The gang is back for more of the same sexual hi-jinks in this sequel to the original smash hit "American Pie". If you liked the first one you are sure to find the exploits in this one just as entertaining. From the opening scene of Jim's dad walking in on him while in a sexual embrace with a fellow college student to the final reunion between Finch & Stiflers mom, "American Pie 2" moves at a brisk pace.

Jason Biggs once again reprises his star-making role as Jim, while this time round Seann William Scott who plays Stifler is possibly even crazier than he was in the first film. He is like a wild man, untamed & unleashed. Eugene Levy again almost steals the film in his brief but hilarious appearances as Jim's dad, but unfortunately he is not given as much screen-time as he deserves. One of the things that made the original "American Pie" so successful was the father & son relationship. If only Eugene had of been given a few more scenes the sequel would have been more satisfying. Also the foreign exchange student Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth) is back but unfortunately this time she is wasted in a small limited role. In fact most of the strong female cast of the first film are back but all are given much less to do.

To be honest "American Pie 2" doesn't really have much of a plot, it is basically a collection of funny sex skits. Luckily most of the jokes do work for the audience the film is aimed at. In the screening I watched the majority of the jokes hit the mark, tickling the funny bones of the adolescent audience that was present. In particular, the sequence where Jason Biggs gets mistaken for an intellectually disabled band member, this scene got roars from the audience that I watched it with.

From a champagne shower, to the art of Japanese Tantra, to a house with 2 so-called lesbians, to the pain of gluing yourself to you, "American Pie 2" has the strong appeal with the audience it is intended for, teens. With the success of the film it looks like the makers may even serve up a 3rd slice, of "American Pie".
